This came from the same site as my large cent It is one piece brass/bronz, the backmark is hard to read some of the letters are upside down & backwards what I think it reads is; "IVES KENDRICK & CO EXTRA" A date range would be great along with any history. Thanks in advance

You nailed the reading. Lots of buttons by this maker. All seem to be presented as pre-civil war, often with the comment that the CSA wasn't often able to actually produce buttons to their military specs and used old goods and issued purchased and looted military and military school uniform pieces at will. The collectors refer to this type as a "flower button."

I believe that this is a civilian button.

The date range for this particular backmark is quite narrow— c. 1837-40.
