Ok, got another long shot here. Is this a quartz core by any chance? It was found with a pretty good amount of debitage lying around. The top is very smooth, and flat enough to lay a credit card on, if that means anything. TIA

no its natural

:( damnit

It might be marble also

It very well could be a piece that they knocked a flake or two off. The flat side is natural, but I see impact cracks.Photos of the bottom might help.

yes , I find them just like that where you described, altered by man .A spall core ,reduction core, ? any experts care to define ?

I tend to trust Rock's opinion but here are more pics. Thanks for commenting guys.

That would be your first mistake ,I tend to trust what the finds tell me .

So you think it looks like something? Had it not been for the debitage lying around, I probably wouldn't have picked it up.

JMO there has been some spalls taken off of that stone. The other photo helped.

It doesn't look like quartz to me. Could be quartzite but Im not sure what type it is. If its a core I stand corrected but I see no signs of ancient man picking it up and using it.
