Hi folks!

This is my first time posting here. We are in Redding, CA, and my husband just found what might be scraper tool -- or it might just be a piece of rock!We are not sure, so hoping someone can inform us. We have found a number of arrowheads on our property -- one really pretty one almost completely perfect and made of striped obsidian. So, we know there were Native Americans here, but this piece we're just not sure of. I don't know what kind of stone it is. Any help would be most appreciated!

id call that a side scraper :icon_thumright:

I think it is bigger than a thumb scraper. It is an artifact for sure. Looks like a large scraper. I see secondary work. Very nice find and welcome to t-net. What do the arrowheads look like? That tool you have was used by all cultures.

too small to be thumb, I agree with the others, it is a crude scraper...

Welcome.. nice find. Can we please have a look at the points you have found?

has a few similarities to a spokeshave?

actually it would probably be best classified as a side scraper with spokeshave

Nice Find! First photo: The left side has signs of a spokshave, and the right side of the artifact looks like it was used as a scraper or gouge.
