Is this a tombac button.. or something else? It's Pewter

It is about the size of a penny (~3/4" diameter). The edge is chipping away. It has a mold line across the back. Found at the side of an old road in front of a ~1800 house.

Thanks! ;D

Pewter button with what looks like an iron shank. (hard to tell, shank I mean)

Still hard to tell on the shank, but I'm sure you can tell if it's iron or pewter taking a close look. Yeah I'd say around 1800 would work.

Just to clarify, Tombac is a name for a type of metal alloy. This one is pewter, so can't be a tombac button, although they are of a similar date, as suggested just before 1800.
