Is this Civil War saddle and gun holster. Lots of pictures

A friend bought them at a flea market in Colonial Height Virginia. Most all metal on it is brass. It has 11 1/2 inch seat on the piece of brass.
The gun holsters have US on the brass pieces. The gun holsters are at 7" long. I will answer any questions.

Yep - those saddles were made for the animals, not the riders.

However, in an old manual that I have somewhere, it was thought that "male parts" might be made more comfortable for long rides while using this saddle. (they didn't much care about their arses)

The saddle is for sure post civil war and is a McClellend saddle and the things with the US rosette things are post war blinders.
