Found these two cool specimens in North Carolina, they look like pertrified wood to me, but would appreciate confirmation from a knowledgeable party. Can anyone confirm this is fossilized wood?? If so, are these rare/ valuable? Thanks in advance!

I don't think it is, however I am no expert

petrified wood isn't real valuable as you can still get it free on gov land out west

Lots of it around here and the looks can vary widely by region. It's hard to tell by the pics but it could be. It's usually heavier than other same sized rocks and the wood grains or rings can usually be seen as well as the exterior grains or bark. It's pretty unmistakeable most of the time but a rock shop could tell you easily.
