Is this mammoth tusk? Found in the peace river

The smaller one is about 1/2 long. It has about 4 layers. It is not stone-it almost looks like wood but not exactly. The other is fossilized-this is the larger one. Is this tusk? There is a pattern on the surface that looks interesting.

I've seen pertrified wood that was similar...just a guess

Don't think so! But there is a fossil forum on here may want to try that!

If you wish, you can polish up the edge of one (at the end of the grain), and if it is a mammoth tusk it will have a distinctive crosshatch pattern. A site called ivory4you.com/ID/ shouild tell you everything you need to know to identify ivory.

Looks like a piece of Mammoth or Mastodon tooth enamel.
