Hey everyone I usually post on today's finds but I have recently found this in a box of broken bits and pieces. I found it on the Potomac river a couple years back I thought maybe some type of drill or maybe fishing related, or maybe nothing at all. Thanks for looking 20151003_181647.webp20151003_181657.webp20151003_181825.webp

Looks like something to me. A little punch/drill something. Neat find

Looks like a point midway through completion or gave up for some reason..

That is a cool find and real hard to pin down, but a nice find:thumbsup:

definitely looks like a debitage chip or drill or something worked by man to me also.

give us some close ups of that tip

Looks broken by the stem but if whole I would say it looked like a drill type of thing. I like going back through my debitage bucket for a 2nd look before dumping it after a year or so. Find some interesting things sometimes.

Okay, I have to ask this first. Is it entirely made of stone? It looks like it might be a small nail that has some kind of concretion starting to form around it.

ok I tried to get better pics20151004_181929.webp20151004_182104.webp20151004_182116.webp20151004_182129.webp20151004_182138.webp

Piece never completed...

Here are two I found in Nevada, they appear to be for poking holes in leather for sewing. They are not an unfinished point, they were obviously made that way for a reason. Richeyed find
appears to be the same type of thing.

Definitely worked, I think not "unfinished", but rather an old broken point that has been reworked into an awl. Very cool.

Don't think Richeysd is same Bosnmate, yours are awl, Hus if you look has point and base but middle is unfinished, turned sideways it is thick..
