Just need real person (no venders) feedback, issues and comparison difference on at gold (why is this one more money, is it good on beach submerged and wet sand?) and at pro on how everyone is reacting to their machines.. Honest opinions please !

Just spend some time comparing the two yourself by going to Garrett's website, they publish all the info you need concerning features and owners manuals and such. You should be up to speed after a few hours. Now as far as various reactions of certain real life users toward these machines, just read the garret forum threads back to say about early 2010 you will be up to speed after a few days. Everything you need to know has been discussed ad nauseam here. Good luck trainer get the atpro its a great coinshooter.

Don't get the gold near salt water.

Hi Trainer, I can't do the comparison on both machines for you, I do own the Pro, and logged a lot of hours on it (hundreds) I have no issues with it, I have used a few other brands, which friends of mine own and when we are out hunting we swap machines, and personally I prefer my Pro. Now that said, it's because I know it, know it's sounds etc. Sorry I can't help you out on the AT Gold, I do use my Pro in water but NOT salt water.

I've done research on both and for me I'm getting the AT Gold. Why more people don't compare and chose the Gold over the Pro is beyond me. Not good in salt water though, but I'm not near the ocean.

Yeah it's a lot more detector for the extra hundred bucks. I think most people seem to be stretching the cash for the AT over the ACE and don't want to go the extra for the Gold.

The pro is only good in fresh water ? i need to use a machine for land and beach

this! I have owned both. I ended up selling the pro because for me and what I want in a machine the gold is the better machine. I get more depth with the gold when both machines have the same coil installed and that is with the gold running disc1 and the pron in pro zero. Put the gold in all metal and it will go quite a bit deeper. I like hunting with threshold which the gold has also. however, if you like using silent search(no threshold) and like to have alot of flexibility with discrimination or are looking for a machine that is more for a beginner to start with(std mode) the pro would be my choice. also, the pro will work better than the gold in saltwater(even though I wouldnt call it good) but with freshwater they both will work just fine...

The pro has worked great in salt water for me but I have never used it in the dreaded black sand.
