I haven't been digging much since July, manly because of a peace of property we have bought and have been working on and spending a lot of time at and also a family issue that we are dealing with.
Friday I loaded up the ATV and headed to or hunting property for a solo hunt and a little quiet time. It really felt good to get out and was a much needed hunt.
This is a site of an old mountain homestead that I have hunted many times.
Here is what I found. A few old buttons, a peace of a lantern and best of all is what I think is a peace of a Union sword belt, belt buckle. I tried hard to find the rest of it with no luck. There was no CW activity here that I know of so it was a surprise.

This was one of my most enjoyable hunts, mostly because I needed it. Thanks for looking

OH MAN! You are in GOD'S COUNTRY! Excellent pictures and the majesty of that ground must certainly bring peace to your soul. If I never found anything but, rusted iron from those beautiful sights I'd still return home better adjusted from just being in such wonderful natural environments. Love your broken buckle and other finds as well. May your family affairs work themselves out too my friend. Thanks for sharing.

Not part of Massanutten Mt.area? I hunted this area yesterday for a long 3-4 hour hunt and only wish I'd found some nice finds like you have there. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

It's in Highland county, close to the WV line. It's 1200 Acres that several of us have least for the hunting rights. We've had it for many years and it is a beautiful place.
