What a day today turned out to be. Didn't decide to go out until about the middle of the afternoon, and thought that I would hit one of the schools that I am now just getting around to. Parked the car next to the baseball field, and there were some kids playing there, so I walked over to the tetherball area and decided to start there. Hadn't even got thru the first swing, and I got this shrill shreak telling me to dig now. Bent over, stuck my probe in, and pulled out a Sacagawia. My first of the year, and my first one I've ever got on the first swing. A short time later, I got another ring that really didn't sound right, but something that I should dig. When I got it out, I thought it was a clad quarter, but it didn't ring up as a quarter. Cleaned it up a little, and saw that it was foreign. After I got it home and cleaned, and looked up on the internet, I found that it was from Syria. That was another first. Never found a coin from there before. I've added photos of both sides of the coin. After digging a bunch more clad, I got this strong reading at about 4 inches, that just screamed "silver". So not to hurt it much, I pulled out a big plug. Broke it in half, and swiped one half across the coil. It screamed back, so I put the other half of plug back into the hole. Out came a beautiful silver ring. My first at this school. Out of habit, I took the detector, and rechecked the hole, and got another reading out of the other half of the plug. Pulled it out, and got another silver ring out of it. I have never got two silver rings out of the same hole before, and they are not puzzle rings. After about 2 1/2 hours, I called it a day, and ended up with $4.41 in clad, 2 silver rings, a Syrian coin, and a "I love soccer" pin. All in all, a pretty good day. Hope all of you had one too.
