Finally,I was able to get out with the Excal.today!
I headed over to the local beach just two hours before closing. It hasnt been all that hot and the three beaches in the area get MDed to death, so my hopes werent too high. There wasnt a soul in the water and the on duty ranger said that there had been two MDers there yesterday. One in the sand and one (with a green machine) in the water.I figured what the heck.Im here so Ill give it a try.As I entered the water,I started tuning in my baby and somehow managed to notch my disc all the way down and my sens all the way up without any serious chatter.....Amazing! I made two long sweeps(about a quarted of the swim area) and the only targets I hit were deep.Right on the clay line about 6-8" under the sand.I dug all repeatable targets yet found little trash.Found about a dollar in clad and the newest coin was a 1984 dime. The very first target I dug was a ladies 10k ring with an heart shaped aquamarine! Aside from that, I found a gold plated ring, A sterling ring with garnet, A sterling ring, a sterling toe ring, a 925 Italy thin bracelet, a 925 Italy heavy bracelet, and a couple pieces of junk jewelry.I gotta say, the Excalibur kicked ass today. It found the treasure I know other detectors were going right over.I realized today the need to really tweek things out as much as possible for each situation.Cant wait to get out again...great luck to all....Joe
