It's a plane: crews film episode of MTV show at Schuylkill County Airport

MOUNT PLEASANT - Three fighter jets soared over the Schuylkill County Joe Zerbey Airport on Monday as crews filmed an episode of an upcoming MTV series.

"It's been exciting, exhilarating," airport Manager Bill Willard said Monday afternoon, during a break in filming of the show "MegaDrive," produced by Lion Television and set to air on MTV in the spring.

The show stars comedian Johnny Pemberton as he test drives "some of the most extreme vehicles on the planet," according to Lion TV's Web site.

The quest for extreme rides brought Pemberton to Schuylkill County as three Czech-made L-39s were flown in for the shoot.

Trained pilots manned the controls in each plane, while Pemberton and other crew members were passengers. The show's executive producer, Rob Anderson, said the Schuylkill County airport "met the needs" of the show. Chief among them, Anderson said, was minimal air traffic in the area.

"It's been a lot of fun," Anderson said of the crew's time in Schuylkill County. "We've been learning a lot."
