Has anyone else ever had a good hit with their detector and couldn't find anything with the pointer?

Happening off & on Lately with the SE & Garrett Pointer.

Not sure what to blame it on,

never had the Problem with my
Sovereign & Sunray

However, on a Couple occasions I found coins
by digging a few inches Deeper then I Normally would
have to before.

& gave up on a few lately
becouse I'd dig the Depth of the Garrett Pointer & still
no signal.

Maybe I Should have kept digging.

The Garrett has not signaled on the edge of Dimes & Pennies
though.

The sunray always did.

Of course the Lack of hearing the signal through
the headphone with the Garrett & weak Vibration
may be the Cause.

Have done this a few times but always found by digging a few inch's deeper it would show up on the pin pointer. I have the Sun Ray X-1 and it has a limited depth of 3 to 4 inch's. Rick

I've got an Ace 250, and am new at this hobby.

I've been getting the same thing...solid beeps...I mean real solid...but am finding nothing. Right now, I am suspecting mineralized rocks. The place I am hitting has more rock than soil!

I occasionally have similar hits from time to time. Most likely your good deep coin signal is a very deep piece of copper or brass, or even a deep aluminum can. These items can be 12 inches or more in depth and will give a very positive I.D. on your machine. If your meter says 6 inches deep on a coin signal and you have already dug down 8 or more I would bet that there is a large piece metal down there.

Had this happen this week end while hunting a old farm. I received a very distinct 12-47 12-48 signal and it showed 8 inch's on my E-Trac. Could not pick up anything with my Sun Ray pinpointer. Told the wife it must be deeper then the Sun Ray could pick up. After we dug down over 8 inch's and still no signal on the pinpointer I was ready to give up but the wife kept digging. Finally about 4 inch's further down she was able to pick it up with the pinpointer but was having problems getting down to it. Finally at over 14 inch's she with the help from my son pops this 4 inch in diameter copper object out of the ground.

Was I ever glad we didn't give up as after we cleaned it up a bit we found what appears to be a hub cover for a very old Ford car. Need to do a little research but I'm pretty sure it is for a model T Ford. Not a old coin and not in the best shape but It's a really neat find and the first I've ever come across.

Love the history of my finds as much as the old coins. At 65 I'm beginning to be a bit of a antique myself. Rick

It's just Not a Sunray,
Which I Used regularly for 10 Years.

It's like somone swapping out your
Child and saying,
