I've been sick for about a week-ended up in the E.R.

So I have been fighting this nasty respiratory sickness for about a week. I have had a constant temperature of about 101 the entire time. Last night my temp skyrocketed to 104.4. That was with a dose of tylenol and ibuprofen in me. My old lady rushed me to the emergency room. My temp was so high that I started hallucinating. I was saying weird things. I saw weird colorful wavy spinning things that weren't there. When the e.r. admitting person took my vitals he about flipped because my heart rate was 262. He got on the phone and nurses came rushing out with a bed and I got on it. They hooked me up to an iv and packed ice packs around my neck and armpits and groin. They got my temp back down to 101. They did an influenza swab where they stick this little thing about 5 inches up your nose. Not fun! They came back negative.(I say they because the swab had to be done twice.) Then I was givin chest xrays. It turns out I have pneumonia. The doc wanted to keep me in the hospital but I sure didn't want to. The doc let me go home and I am taking 3 different medicines. I am slowly getting better. I could at least get out of bed today and monkey around for a little while. I don't think I have ever been this sick. I was in the e.r. from about 11 p.m. last night until about 4 a.m. this morning. So i slept most of the day today. Now its 11 p.m. tonight and I don't feel tired.

Your post needs to be read by everyone. My Bro had a bug like yours ended up with full blown pnemonia also. They say watch your temp. Hope you get to feeling better real soon.

Yeah I'm doin a lot better this morning. Still got a hell of a cough though. I didn't know it until now when I looked it up but a persons normal heart rate is between 60 and 100. That's kinda scary that my heart was beating that fast. 262 divided by 60 is about 4 so my heart was beating 4 times a second. Yikes. I also remember thinking it was pretty cool that I didn't have to wait to get in and be seen by somebody. I thought that there must not be any other patients here. It never occurred to me that I was actually so sick that they rushed me in right away. When i was laying in the hospital bed I was watching these weird spinning things on the wall. They were like a star shape with a lot of points on the stars. The points would change color and they would spin around 3 dimensionally. I kept asking what they were and they would tell me there was nothing there. Everytime one of the star thingys looked like something I would say what they looked like. I can remember saying whoa look at that one it looks like a tarantula. My old lady was sitting in a chair next to me crying and I couldn't understand why. I kept asking her why are you crying. She would tell me but I jsut couldn't understand it. Oh yeah and I threw up all over myself when I was laying in that bed too.

Really scary stuff when i look at it now.

Dude, get that crud outta yer chest before the first snow comes!!! Seriously, glad your doing better. Become a winter Texan, go to South Padre, and all ya gotta worry about is the swine flu and eating citrus during the winter months!!! Just holler at me if you want to go detecting at the island!!

We took a vacation to South Padre about 15 years ago. That was really something else. I was only about 15. I remember standing outside of the big light house that is there and seeing a Lamborghini drive by. I remember I got a kick out of the signs on the bridge saying watch for pelicans. I started feeding the seagulls bread. They would fly down and take it out of my hand. When we left the seagulls followed us in our car for a couple of miles. I started thowing bread out the window nad they would come down and catch it in the air. We ate lunch at a little cafe right on the beach. We had a seafood platter for 4. They brought out this plate stacked about a foot high with shrimp, fish, fries, stuffed crab, and calimari. When we left here we got on a plane in Omaha Nebraska. It was really cold. I think it was below zero. I had my winter coat on. I still had my coat on when we landed in Brownsville. It was like 80 degrees. That was really a fun time.

Yep, sounds like the typical winter here. Sometimes a cold snap rolls in and it dips into the 70's. That really sucks because ya gotta break out the wind breaker and put it on. Sometimes it's really difficult to remember where ya left your wind breaker last year. Good to see ya doing well. Were pullin for ya down here.
