In 30 years of metal detecting this is my favorite find...A Colt Navy .36 Cap and Ball Revolver...it is unloaded and missing the charge bar...amazing the wooden pistol grips were still in it..
Any idea on what caused the wood grips to remain in tact like that? Love the halves too. You may have worn down the two in your belt buckle, but the enjoyment you received wearing it, and probably retelling the story of the find time and time again, is priceless
What an amazing find, and to add to it thenumerous half dollars from the 1800's!!! I can only imagine the visions of history that brought to mind along with the surroundings it was located in!
I would love to hear the story of when and how, and in general where you found the gun & coins! Brings to vision a story right out of the old west days!
