Jamesabroad's Hunting Log

Hope you guys don't mind yet another CRH log. I would like to share my finds with everyone though. I don't hunt a large volume and I usually stick to Halves and Nickels with the occasional dime search. I've been at this for a couple months but I just start with my last box.

No silver this time.

You're averaging one silver a box, that's pretty close to what I have over 142 boxes.

Yeah this last one is actually my sixth box and the only one I haven't gotten at least one silver from. I've only pulled two silvers in a box once (second to last box).

$110 in CWR halves was a skunk. Oddly, about half of them were cleaned/polished 1971's and 76's. Why would anyone clean or polish these? Maybe they were from an easter egg hunt or something. Dumping in the morning and picking up a box of nickels. Only question is should I go with Brinks or NF Strings this time.

It seems like I find a lot of 1938's and 39's in really good condition. Does anyone know why these are common in high grades?

$50 CWR dimes = skunk. Haven't had time to do much hunting this week. Did visit a LCS that has decent prices but I'll have to wait until Wednesday to get back up there to pick up some silver.

$100 in Brinks/CWR dimes mix =1 Canadian dime. I never have any luck with dimes. Going to dump these in the morning and try to find some halves. My best pick up bank has been dry of halves for a while now.

Haven't posted in a while. My CRHing has slowed down a lot due to better weather and enjoying the kids being home from school. I picked up a box of nickels and it took me over a week to go through them. Just a couple rolls here and there. Here's the results.

Finding it hard to take time to search boxes. With summer here, the kids home and the "to-do" list in hand it's hard to get around to CRHing. This is my first summer in the hobby and I can see now why a lot of people slow down in the summer. I have made some coin purchases but haven't picked up a box in some time. I'll post when I do. I don't know why so many would be cleaned. I understand cleaning dug halves, but clad halves never circulated well, so it would be very unlikely that 110 halves would be dug.

My guess is that people hoarded them since they were a new design, and these hoards got recently deposited.
