Come now, the Yanks didn't invade us. The Union troops were here in the 22 Infantry units, 8 artillery units, and 7 cavalry units that Western Virginia mustered during that time. 8)

True, but my ancestors went and fought for Virginia. One of them rode with Mosby. Jefferson Co. almost during the split went to Virginia. More than half of the civil war solgiers from the county fought for Virginia outfits.

Very cool! I can't find any of my ancestors associated with the CW.

Yep, there were many more WV folks that fought for the South than the North. It's just that some of the folks I talk to around this neck of the state swear up and down that there were no Union troops from WV. :icon_scratch:
