Job Site Finds 1 - 14 - 2020

A group shot of what we cleaned so far just rinsing the mud out .

All are pretty sweet! I actually became engrossed in researching CA bottles the other day after reading this post, and somehow I ended up purchasing a San Francisco Whiskey, Sacramento druggist, and Seattle flask in one day. Western stuff is very interesting, and highly prized by collectors. I guess it's because of movies like Tombstone, romanticizing the West.

I cleaned some of the small bottles today all in good shape .

These bottles are the oldest style of Bromo Seltzer out there, dating to about 1890. Keep an eye out for the large size ones, and teal and aqua variants!

Very sweet! That ink bottle is Civil War period. I know my dad has been after one for years, all broken. That is one heck of a blob! Even though it's Eastern, Cobalt Blue is hard to find! Congrats on two dandys!

Ugh, so jealous. You are killing it! That umbrella ink is absolutely gorgeous, wow, one of the prettiest I've seen in a while. Man, and another nice early soda...

Haha, I don't know whether to vote banner now or wait for you to go and get more, this is just such an amazing ongoing hunt!

Killer stuff. Is the Lancaster and the umbrella pontiled? If so, we want pictures!

Here's a shot of the bottoms of the two in question .

Killer!

Open pontil ink, Iron pontil soda. Soda is from the late 1850s, and ink from the Civil War years.

More than likely the ink is from the 1850s as well. Although used contemporaneously with the open (or blowpipe) pontil from roughly 1845-1860, the iron pontil was considered an improvement over its predecessor. Use of the pontil in the manufacture of utilitarian bottles had begun to fade by the time the Civil War started.

Thanks for the base pics, Southfork. I can sleep easy tonight.

Those are some fantastic finds. Congratulations, and keep posting please

More Bottles 2 - 11 - 2020

The other bottle hunters at the job site showed a lot of interest in this whiskey bottle . Jockey Club Whiskey C W Chesley @ CO SF and a few other bottles and a fork an spoon . I'll post a better photo of the whiskey bottle when cleaned a little .

There's a reason why they want that... SF or California Whiskeys in general go for big bucks. That is a killer bottle, and I can't wait to see that beauty in the California sun!
