Joe was happy as a clam at high tide.
Traded his 25' Catalina in on a 38' Ericson.
Hoist the main and see how it looks.
Hands slipped from the halyard rope and away she went.
Sail and rope on the deck. Someone forgot to tie off the end.
Had to go up the mast and re-rig.
OK. Not much for climbing, he thought of an easier way.
The topping lift rope he tied to a bag. Filled the bag with anchor and chain, winched it to the top of the mast. OK.
Made a loop at the other end and got in. The counterweight will pull him up. He let go the line and saw he had too much weight in the bag. Went up fast. Met the chain bag in the middle and it bashed him on the head. Got to the top and the bag hit the deck where the chain fell out. He went down and met the bag with just the anchor halfway. Ouch. When he hit the deck he fell out of the loop and the rope went up again. The anchor came back down......
Finally out of the hospital he has a nice sailboat for sale.
