I like going through halves alot, and i was wondering what everyone keeps when they go through them. Obviously you keep all pre 1970, but other than that what does everyone keep and why?

i don't go through halfs but people keep the 1970-D because it was only in mint sets and the same goes for 1987 halfs not sure on which mintmark apply here and any s minted half. hope this helps. i read alot of peoples posting on half dollar finds.

The 70D is silver too. I keep all silver and anything that will fit in my Dansco. I think any half minted after 2002 was NIFC and produced in low numbers.

I know what you mean, I've only found like, 5 or 6 of them, imagine finding like 8 of them in a roll! I'd have a heart attack because of that streak of luck!

are the bicentennial ones really worth it? I always felt like when i got 5 straight rolls of them i was missing out on the silver. oh well, I'm still looking for the walkers

I keep anything silver.
1970 and earlier
1976 S (some are silver, some aren't)
1992 S - Present (silver proofs)
All Proof Coins
All NIFC (1987, 2002-Present)

1976 was the largest mintage, they are not worth more than face, unless in mint state, or silver. I would recommend against wasting money/time on them.

I must have had $20 in bicentennials in the $110 that I searched last night. I don't keep them other than what is in my Dansco.

1971 is really cool too, you should keep that in your warehouse. I presume you have a warehouse where you keep your bicentennial halves and 1964 nickels.

Well Red book stated there are some 71'D n 77'D , which were struck in silver-clad by error...look it up..

I do agree that you should hoard all the Bicentennial!!!
