I ran into this fellow today. Luckily I saw him first. Still he didn't budge an inch. I made a wide berth. About 8 feet long.

YIKES! Much better to see him from this side of the camera in my opinion! lol glad you gave him a wide berth and also glad you took the time to share it with us!

Yes they are good eating just like many other things, it tastes like chicken only the texture is a bit firm. You can hunt them if you have a permit. I think they issue about 4300 permits a year on a first come first serve basis, and the season runs from Aug.15-Nov.1, so the season is over already this year. Oh yeah, they only have to be longer than 18 inches, though I don't know why anyone would want to harvest one that small.
