Just ordered my first detector! Any advice for a rookie?

My Garrett AT Pro should arrive Tuesday, and I'm very excited to learn as much as I can and have some fun. I'm going to be dirtfishing in the Midwest looking for mostly jewelry and silver coins. Where should I start my quest to become a master MDer??

I did fine for years without one. Sure not a necessity but would put it way up on the "neat to have" list. I use the Vibra-Probe. Waterproof and doesn't beep to draw attention. Never used the Garret but it seems to be the top dog for many of the avid hunters.
