Had a little time to do some morning detecting on Tuesday and I'm glad I did. I ended up digging a trade hook and the most amazing lead/pewter alloy turtle pendant in the same hole! Then moved over 2 feet and got an iron point. And then a piece of gun lock. Thought I'd share.

..is the turtles beak, missing? An open mouth kinda loop for to hang it around your neck, pendant style?
Might have to try to preserve that hook, IDK exactly but the answers are here.

It doesn't appear to be broken if it was it was used afterwards. The eyes are drilled out for a thread. I did treat the hook as usual with the iron. I also did the turtle so it didn't turn to broken pieces and powder.
