Just poking around old dirt cellar... 1838 Large Cent.. No detector. *NEW PIC'S*

As some of you know, my wifes Dad passed unexpectedly last Sunday... I had to make a quick trip up to Idaho for the funeral. While there, I detoured to Eastern Oregon to visit my son. My ex and her husband live in a house that was built in the 1800's, and have completely remodeled it... They have found a TON of old stuff in and around the yard, and a quart jar's worth of old marbles.
Even though I didnt bring a detector, I told Scott (my ex's husband) that I wanted to hunt this place sometime. He told me that while he was doing the remodel, he had to "shore up" the foundation timbers and stuff, and that down in the dirt cellar he came across a "brick container" that was about 2 foot by 2 foot, but didnt bother to try to dig it up... He poured some cement near it, he thinks he covered up about half of the area where it lies with that cement.. He also told me that I am welcome any time to bring a detector over and hunt to my hearts content.. I have to believe that the brick "thing" is some sort of cache.. What else could it be?
Anyway, I asked to have a look in the dirt cellar and he showed me the area where it lies. We also agreed that we could probably dig it out below the cement without causing any damage to the foundation/post... While in the dirt cellar, I was just kinda poking around, found a few nails, and then spotted a coin... Clean as could be and of course, just lying there out of the weather, in almost uncirculated shape.. 1838 Large Cent!
I will post scans of it when I get home, but I can only imagine what I will find here when I can come back with a detector... The house was built in 1828, in a very historic old town... I could hardly sleep last night just imagining what must be around here.
I bet she even has rare marbles worth some good $$... If I had the time, I would look them all up, and take pictures of them.. I will try to even take some pictures of down in the "root cellar" and post them also...

HH all!

The updated photos help. The coin just looks way too nice to have been lying around for 170 years. I suppose if it was in a nice dry basement in good soil, then it's possible.

If only these coins could talk!
Just about all of the marbles that my ex found are also like new.. No fogging, nicks, or anything.. Her husband also said the couple old silvers he found and gave to his dad were "like new"...
The cellar is really tight in most places, and doing anything under there requires crawling.. I am hoping that besides the brick "vault", I will find some pocket spills.. Where I found this coin, I dug around with my fingers in the immediate area, and only found a couple nails and a piece of old chicken wire.. Scott (the ex's husband) said that when they remodeled, the walls were all plaster and chicken wire, and covered in many places with old newspapers dating back to the very early 1900's... He has a friend who MD's, but I told him that if he let him hit it before me, I would have to hunt him down and hurt him really bad.. LOL...
Cant wait to get back there...
