Last Friday, Tnet member SilverCoinHound found a couple of large cents. I made the comment, “I need me some largies real bad”
Ask and ye shall receive! I wasn’t in the mood to run around my 1910 open permission, so I went a doorknocking…. Scouting an area way south of the county, I roll up on a rare sight. An old brick farmhouse! Looks like they’re home, nothing to lose right? Permission granted, so I got to beeping. Trash? Oh yeah…. Tons of it. So low and slow I cherrypicked the best signals. 4 wheats, 3 Mercs, and a BUCKET LISTER!!! Matron Head LC.
My first, 1816-1839…. My eyes read 1835 after thumb-punching it… but it could have been lies.

Also got a D buckle, gave it to the owner. He didn’t want the trash.
Was told to come back anytime!

you might be able to read the date on the L.C. by using "Andre Pencils".

you might be able to read the date on the L.C. by using "Andre Pencils".

I haven’t touched it yet… I plan on giving it a gentle clean up, maybe touch it with some olive oil. I do have the pencils, but they are wore down from IHP cleaning. Never tried it on a LC. If I don’t get a date, I’m cool with it.

Nice batch of coins BWD. Any day you can get 3 Mercs, a LC, and some wheats out of one yard, is a pretty good hunt.
