🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Just Trash?

Hi, I'm fairly new to hunting and found these on a beach yesterday. i used my garrett ace 400 on jewelry mode with the discrimination turned way up. I'd get real faint yet solid pings between 85-100 on 90% of them. None of the silver looking pieces will stick to my magnetic stud finder but maybe it's not be strong enough.. i really don't know. I'm wondering if they're firepit garbage.. Is my detector sub-par at best? This my first post so please be gentle. XD Any info from this community would be greatly appreciated! TYSM!

Aluminum cans (melted or not) tend to hit in the same range as coins on most detectors. Keep digging, and you'll find the good stuff sooner or later.

Welcome to the site.
turn your disc down for better depth, I use a nickel coin to set my disc. set too high and you'll not pick up gold.
digging trash is all part of metal detecting , as stated above you've found some melted cans

Jewelry mode on the 350's isn't bad.
You seem to have your sensitivity cranked up to a high channel.
Which is o.k. too IF you're not getting any hits.

Not saying it isyour case but a Garrett can tell you something is there that you really aren;'t after. Not a bad thing if it is subtle.

What did you have discriminated out?
I'll dig aluminum instead of eliminating it. I do flirt with almost eliminating it.
But would rather dig pull tabs than miss gold.
When dialed in close (even in jewelry mode) I'm digging damaged/misshapen or partial tabs.

You're o.k.. If you don't dig at least some aluminum you'll likely miss gold. (If you did a thousand tabs you should dig a gold item in there too.)
It's just that you were digging on a site with lots of aluminum blobs.
It can happen but there are areas without them too.
Now that you removed them you can check for what was under them.

Here's tabs in an old pic probably from a hunt in jewelry mode with a 350 little brother to your 400..
Nope that's not a solid gold ring in exchange for digging tabs. L.o.l..
Bent malformed tabs don't ring up like intact ones for me.
And I dig a bottle cap to get the feel for them again. Usually erratic as I change coil direction. But I dig more in some areas too. To be sure they are caps. And because there is a dense (a word meaning oh boy) layer in a certain parks corner. I dig a bunch ; then move on till next time. (Wanting to detect below them clearly after they are cleared. )

The melted slag should encourage you. It means someone spent time in that area. I agree: keep looking in that general area. 👍🏼

I’ve upgraded several times and now have an xp deus 2 and a good 10 years experience and I still dig cans a lot… it’s not so much the detector it’s just learning your machine and what you’re willing to take the time to dig, like others have said sometimes the good stuff rings up almost the same. Last fall I had 5-6 straight hits and the first five were bits of a can, last one was a civil war cavalry button all on the same line I was walking.
