OLATHE, Kan. (AP) -- An Overland Park man who flashed an obscene gesture at an Olathe police officer after getting a ticket is getting rewarded for his behavior.

Olathe police also must train its officers that they are required to take such verbal abuse.

That just seems bassakwards to me. Perhaps the news story is incompleate. Jim

Flipping off an officer is not "disorderly conduct", which he was ticketed for, it may be rude and set a bad example for his children, but it is not a legal issue....

It goes with the job.

You have to take the verbal abuse and the bird when dealing with the public.

As long as no threats are made or physical contact is attempted there is no foul.
