Hopefully I'm not double posting this but I couldn't find it after my first try.:icon_scratch:

I picked up this jar from Good Will yesterday, they re-sell fairly well for lamp bases or home decor.

This one seems to be of a bit better quality and I have read something about the double rings on the base being desirable. This jar stands about 10 inches in height.

From what I can find, the leaf mark on the base may be a mark attributed to the Kangxi period.
Any information would be wonderful and yes, I know it's missing the lid.

Trash or Treasure?

541: Chinese Qing Kangxi iron red porcelain lidded jar : Lot 541

Thanks Bigfoot1!!! You have been a super big help to me once again and I thank you. This piece just looks to be well done, not sloppy like many of the later and common jars. I have been to GW twice hoping the lid will show up.

Good job Bigfoot! I didn't expect there would be one so similar online. Really similar, noting just some difference in the wings of the creature. It appears that listing sold for $1,750 (in 2011), which I mention incase it disappears from that site. I hope this one is genuine!
Goodwill stores have district sorting centers that items go to regardless of where they donated, so if the lid was with it when donated and then separated it may well have gone to a different store. At least that's how it works in New England.

I agree with the possibility of the lid being somewhere else. It may also find it's way there at the same store days later. I have found matching pieces before like that myself. They've shown up days later at the same store. I have never found another piece at a different store, but I am sure it happens all the time. It's more from a lack of me not searching different stores than anything.
