Well just about all of the ploughed land is now set, so that means on to the pasture. Over the years I've had some good finds from pasture fields, but ploughed land is much better and easier to dig in. It's been very warm in England today so sun cream applied I tried a field very near to a cow shed. The field was very small and I don't think it's been ploughed for years. Managed a few finds in the 3 hours I searched. After about 10 mins I found a large Georgian buckle which encouraged me to stick at it. The next find was a George V 1918 penny followed later by a very worn George 11 halfpenny. As I sit typing this my back is killing me from the hard digging (must be getting old). When I first started detecting about 25 years ago I would be out all day detecting, mostly finding nothing !.
