Keeping up with the Patriot's last hunt

Iron Wars! :headbang:

Got out with Ironhorse today and hit some fields we haven't been to in many years mostly because I had a very strong gut feeling to go back, and then when I realized there was still more ground to cover it was an easy decision. We found a new site, it is very old, but didn't give up a lot. But the good news is only part of it was available to hunt today, and there's still another field to check. Steve, maybe you should give up now... I am the Iron king. :tongue3: ...and about a 20 time silver loser! :laughing7:

Misc.

Designed tombac button

George I Halfpenny (1719-1724)

Mid. 18th century French Trade Axe.

Like the trade axe. Is that part of a spur in the first pic and what the little thing next to it? Kinds looks like a swivel from a old gun

Love them old hand forged axe heads!

The little thing on the right might be the top of a broken winder of some sort. The other thing I don't know, was a random find in a field that didn't have enough to keep us. I dug a tombac button also, and there was signs, but this was the only other target.

The Trade Axe and the Tombac Button are beautiful finds I.P.! :occasion14:
That field is definitely old!

Dave

Great finds IP. Do tombacs require any specialized cleaning techniques?

Lol. I missed all that drama somehow.

I think you did alright, for a Canadian lol
The trade axe is awesome , I'm not ignoring any iron signals out that way anymore, war declared!
I will post up my stuff later

I was ignoring them myself, but that was was a little too solid to leave behind. Given all the new ground we have going now there's got to be at least one more.

Well I'm glad someone got to dig a few.

GEO I are hard to come by as you well know, and I like the tombac.

I'll be honest I'm not a iron fan, so the axe, well old, is not my favorite of the bunch.

:hello2: I love a challenge…You know me better than that…the last 2 out of 3 times out I found 2 separate halves of trade axes…How many trade axes do you have now? I believe I have close to a dozen but love to dig them! I plan to get out until the freeze for 2 feet of snow so I'll try to have a challenge post… Great finds buddy as usual…Unlike Rick I love old Iron! but I'll take a nice early french next time out too :laughing7:

This is kind of funny in a way, ...story, when I was a kid of about 9 I found a complete rifle in a rock pile on my dad's newly bought property. I was pretty excited, but it was way to far gone to ever be used again, and I actually don't know what happened to it. It was a cool find.

I've said it before to each his own. Some things I like, may not be what others like.

You are so right Rick…Some people love buckles but if it's not a complete knee, shoe or sling buckle then it doesn't get my attention...

Hey, that's always a sweet find!! I'll try to keep Patriot away from the iron next time, but he can dig it anywhere it seems!

Love the Tombac buddy. Nice design. Oh wIt a minute. You're a Canadian and I'm from Maine. I forgot that Maine and Canada were suddenly at war. I will not be replying to any Canadians until.......8:08 AM

Sweet finds. LOVE the trade axe! I've always wanted one of those designed tombacs for my collection. Never seem to find one. My buddies all have good examples they've dug, usually 2 feet away from me. :D

Yeah not "complete" is the thing. A complete one I've yet to find...
