I don't have that many.
A lampshade would be cool.
There are pics on the internet of different things made with them the ones that catch my eye are bottle shaped art.
Steampunk artist's may find uses for them too.

I have a large key ring with a card attached that reads "Don't Know".

Last year I had a customer who had a jar on her desk, asking for old keys for recycling for charity... I gave her like 18 or so... Then my route changed, hadn't seen her since... I need to track her down, got like 50 of them now...

I sometimes use them to re-cut when I need an aged one for a lock. Before you give them away take a look at some of the antique / collectible web sites. I can't believe what the antique malls / stores are asking for even newer keys. Then make a lot or two & put them up on EBay or Craigs list. Jewelry makers and artsy fartseys will snap em up! Bet they'll pay for your next batteries!

Check'em over to see if someone made a "Golden Key" and coated it over with something. You never know... But I'm beginning to believe the "Golden Horseshoe" is a myth lately.

I have an old chest that has been in the family for years. The key was lost many moons ago and I swear its filled with treasure. No one can remember ever seeing inside and its is pretty so no one wants to break into it. So send all those old keys to me and I will see if it works in this old chest. :laughing7:

Make some jewelry..

Old keys have a collector value. They look nice in a display. Modern keys to me only have value to the owner. I leave them with the lost and found if possible.

Post up some good pictures of the lock and I can probably show you how to pick it open.

With that in mind, you can take em to the recycle center with your aluminum cans. You have brass and aluminum in the newer ones. Hey you dug em up you ought to get something for your effort!

Anyone else get electronic key finders for Christmas? I got two. Now I know what to
do with them.

Knew someone that once bought a "treasure chest" from an old barn. Thing weighed a ton, and the owner never had seen it open (was a multiple generation farm). Sold it to a bunch of kids for $20 if they'd move it out of his barn.

The kids hacked it open only to find it was filled with rusty nails. LOL

Hope the nails were worth $30 scarp value! :laughing7::laughing7:

Most or all of the keys I find are brass. I throw them in my brass recycle bucket.
