I'm thinking you're right on the ID of that coin. Congrats! Any LC in any condition ( especially if its a British half penny) is a fantastic find.

Looks like right-facing bust. If so, KG III, 1760-1820. Size would tell if farthing, halfpenny or penny. Halfpenny most common. I agree more cleaning would reveal more detail based on what is visible and my experience with similar coins.

Thank you. I am concerned cleaning could remove lettering from the edges. Is there professional restoration that would be possible. Sounds maybe ridiculous but it could be the only King George I find!!! But let’s hope not.

I wanted to say ‘Thank you’ to all the detectorists who sent messages or thumbs up on the King George find. As all of us know, that doesn’t happen every day. I’ve been detecting 35 years a it was a first.

I think that is a King George II, though I can’t tell if yours is the young or old bust type. I have attached a photo of an old bust type, non dug. I don’t think any cleaning will help. Congrats on a great find.

I’m confident it’s a king George based on the ‘Ius’ for ‘Georgius on the upper lady hand side of the coin. Question is whether it’s a kg 1,2,3. USA, colonial area.

It’s a George the Second, in my humble opinion. Maybe Old Bust, but hard to tell in that condition.
