It looks like a KG III to me (just a guess bc of the way it is facing), nice find!

Yup, he's definitely looking to the right.
Being a KG III Halfpenny makes the most sense.

"George III was King of Great Britain and King of Ireland from 25 October 1760 until the union of the two countries on 1 January 1801, after which he was King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland until his death in 1820."

Nice find,
Dave

Hey Kev78mex, I'm not far from you - up in Morris County. Maybe when things settle down we could plan a dig; I've got some great sites where I have permission here in my area.
At one of those locations last year I found a very corroded copper coin, and I talked about it on this thread: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/coins/617935-cleaning-wheat-pennies.html
It turned out to be a Large Cent from around the 1830's, but the reason I bring it up is: it seems that our New Jersey soil damages these copper coins more than other soils. I see some coins pulled out by people from other areas that are very easy to distinguish, but I look at your coin and my Large Cent and - you can barely tell that they're coins.
What is it in the NJ soil that does this?

- Brian
