It's about 8" long overall and probably dates to the 30's-40's. Opens and closes by use of a sliding ring. The "prongs have flat edges like a screwdriver and are not pointed like the middle probe. Not in my possession but I will try and answer any questions you have. What is it?

Donut Server...
You know those little white powdery ones that come in the 6 pak.
That way you don't get all the powdered sugar on your fingers.

Try opening a bottle of wine with it!

:dontknow:

What is opposite the business end? Is there a ring for hanging or is it flat for pounding?

Here's the closest thing I've found so far.

Fruit picker with three jaws and a spike in the middle. But the short length still confuses me.

Maybe it was used for blanching corn on cob, tomatoes? Removing baked potatoes/sweet potatoes? Thought about removing meats out of lard from crocks (has to be from smaller crocks) handle is too short to use for the 5 gallon crocks.

My Mother says when she was growing up they used something similar to remove cherry pits.

What about a removable handle for a pot to put into the oven? The handle gets disconnected and stays cool outside the oven, and then you connect it to the pot when you want to put it out of the oven.

Probably one of a pair, to stick and grab your turkey or other meat to get it out of the roaster.

Although I have never seen anything like this before, the design gives me a few ideas. The main thing is that it is pointed at all points of contact. It is probably made to skewer something, probably something soft. If it is some kind of skewer, you probably wouldn't want to touch whatever it is made to hold with bare hands. It's also kind of large, so my guess is that it is probably for pickles rather than something like olives. That's only an educated guess, though. I could be completely wrong.

Edit: Just realized somebody else had already suggested this

It has a ring on it for hanging. It wouldn't work well for opening a wine bottle.

Every time I go to reply to this thread I get sucked back into looking for this thing for another hour, now is not an exception.

I've taken a long drive down every avenue mentioned here and some that weren't. I have come up empty.

Lots of good guesses as to what it could be used for but the question remains, what was it actually made for?

I had no idea this thing would be this difficult. At this point I'm inclined to believe that whatever it is, it was a bad idea that never took off, probably because of design issues.

Maybe it was a great idea if you could truly figure out what it was intended to do. Some of the trade shows I go to, I see some wonderful ideas, but they just never really catch on for some reason, like how it's perceived by people, meaning do I really need that to make my life easier because there's already a way to do whatever it is. In my case when I see those ads on TV for those Echo's and Alexa's devices and the person's telling it Hey! Alexa, where can I order a pizza, I think why in the heck do I need spend money on some goofy device to tell me that? I've known for a long time where I can get a pizza and I think I'll just keep doing it the way I've been doing it without some gizmo to simply do it another way.

I came across the name of a woman, Constance Norwick, I believe she writes for the Napa Valley Register, she apparently collects and writes about these green handled kitchen utensils, maybe you can get in touch with her.

So I have spent some time looking for this THING also. All I found was this on Etsy... a set of kitchen utensils ( 1930's ) for $85. Your twin is in the set, but it does not describe it.aaaaaaaaaaagreen gadget2.webpaaaaaaaaaaaaaagreen gadget.webp
