Nice plate , tell us more.

Nice find. Had to look it up. Kentucky Military Academy. Fighting at the Battle of Lafayette, GA?

Found in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. Near the battle of Chickamauga

I'd say you did very well. Nice Box Plate.

I was detecting a yard of a house I lived in when I 1st got married. Asked the homeowners permission to detect and came up super luck.

What else did you get? BTW you have a duplicate post, that's isn't really necessary.

Nothing else really. A bunch of trash. Going back soon. As for the duplicate post, I just saw that. I posted from my phone and for some reason that happened.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

What a great piece of history. Congrats!

That is really neat great find.

Thanks for sharing it’s a real beauty

Never seen one of those posted here. Excellent find and I'd say pretty rare. Bet that was a screamer when you ran your coil over it. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, that would be a blow your ears off special!

That's a heck of a find. I'm voting Banner!!

Update on the KMA plate

Thanks to Smokeythecat I found out my box plate is more rare than I thought. I reached out to several people with connections to dealers and appraisers of civil war artifacts. Everyone that has got back to me says that they have never seen one, much less seen one for sale. They are trying to gather more information on it. The Kentucky Military Academy was pre Civil War and changed to the Kentucky Military Institute prior to the war.

Of course the excitement made me go back again to the yard and search for anything else I could find. Nothing found but some melted lead, small brass fasteners, and a lot of trash because I dug every signal.

I nominated banner on this

Nice one Elvis. They camped all around Chickamaga down there. Many yards can produce Civil war and off of 2-a is the old 6th Calvary dump.I hunt that area when I can.

What a great find, I'm voting BANNER for such a rare find. :occasion14:
