Kodak '1A Pocket' 1898 One of the first
Pulled another 'Black Mass' from the mud,
cleared it off a bit, and see the edge of a knurled brass ring, which of course I think is the reeded edge of a gold coin.
first I think it's a surveying tool, becaues of the prismatic viewfinder, then a chunk of black comes off revealing the Kodak nameplate, (with a perfect mirror image in the black).
Next a search for a pic of the original, I discover I don't need to 'borrow' one off the web, I have a 'Folding Brownie', Essentially the same as the 'Pocket A1'.
some nice Brass Bits, 'Maltese Cross' style viewfinder, this was the beginning of mass production, If I lose my Digital camera in the mud, there will be no evidence of it 100 years from now. Well, the plastic will be there, but no 'Brass Bits' for someone to find & wonder about.
Great Digs to all, Herbie.
