Kodak C1013 focus problems

I recently bought a Kodak C1013 before christmas. It worked great taking holiday pictures and so on. However if I try to take a closeup of coins most of the time the subject is very blurry. The camera has autofocus , I've read the manual and even contact customer support to no avail. Any ideas?

You need a 10x loupe to hold under the lens to get a coin shot.
You can get one at coin dealers.

According to Kodaks website the macro setting has a minimum distance of .13 meters which is about 5 inches. If you are closer than 5 inches the picture will be blurry. I sometimes use a magnifying lens right up against the camera lens and move the camera until the image is focused, then take the picture.
