My plan 'A' to explore 4 or 5 new fields was put to an early end. The Game Keeper thought I was too close to his birds, so instead of arguing that I had as much right as him (ie. the shooting season hasn't even started yet), I left to explore elsewhere.
I followed a Roman Trackway to the base of a hill, found some signs but not coins. So I moved to the L-Shaped Wood which is an old Roman Site with very little left. I did manage 4 Roman Coins.
Dad joined me after lunch & we moved to the Roman Metal Working Site.
I did 7.5 Hours & Dad did 3.5 Hours:

18 Roman Coins - 2 Album Coins
Lead Token Dated 1744
Broken Hod Hill Fibula (1st C AD)
1806/07 Penny
Mystery Iron Age (Celtic) Fitment
Edward IV Hammered Halfpenny 1466-67
Celtic Terret Ring - 1st C BC-1st C AD, My first complete example.:headbang:

One item looks like a hinge with rivets...

The loop looks like a pull-type handle....

Maybe both from a box..WAG...

Hinge? Not so sure, as the 'loop' end looks bent out of shape.

The complete loop is the Rein Guide (Terret Ring) from a Celtic horse or chariot.

Very nice ferret ring! Also that's a nice halfpenny.
The bird fellows sure get their knickers up when it comes to their birds. :)

Nice terret ring! Lots of celtic stuff on that site. :icon_thumleft:

Yes, our long help theory that this Site started in the late Iron Age now has some more strength. The Terret Ring was outside of the main area, thats why its worth extending the searches in the right direction.

Yes, some can, specially this old school guy. We never have had any problems before with all our other farms, but this one will need sorting. He thinks he owns the place.
