land and water detector

I want to buy my first detector and I really want one that can search on land and water since I live on the gulf.
I have no idea which one to pick..
any help would be great.

Just know the laws that are truly written (available on-line or in a printed pamphlet, for city and/or park rules) and if detecting isn't listed, then ............ it's not listed. Yes, such a rule may not be written on a wooden site at a park entrance, but if it's a rule, then it's written somewhere downtown, right? And if it's not, then it's not, so go ahead
