Yesterday you may have read Earthworks hit big at our new spot (I included link below). Today I couldn't stay away, but I only had about a two hour window between a bunch of commitments. Earthworks couldn't go. I got there around 4:30pm and went into the woods and went all over the place for about an hour and a half and didn't have any luck. I then went back to the spot where we had found three Indians in a small area. Sure enough I got a signal, dig, dig, dig...Indian! It was getting too dark to really see anything, so no date until I got home, it's 1899 though and cleaned off really well. So, I ony have a little time left and look around some more then start heading toward the car and start talking to myself about my post - trying to create last minute karma "I found an Indian, then on the way back to the car...Spanish silver!",,,or "I found an Indian, on the way back to the car, Large Cent!" --- I'm sure others do that all the time. I get near the car, where the old colonial or 1800s dirt road dead ends into a stone wall where today's road is, and I decide to spend a few minutes checking out that area, not far from where Earthworks found his large cent yesterday. I get a good copper signal and I'm thinking "Is this really going to happen?!" -- dig, dig, dig..LARGE CENT! I can tell even as it's getting dark by not only the thickness, but I can see the wreath on the back, so I know this is going to clean up well. I check around some more, then head home, I call earthworks of course with the good news. Then I get home and clean off the coins. Large cent is 1849, same date as the one he found the day before. Indian is 1899 (that's I think the 5th Indian from that spot in two days). Both of today's coins are in very nice shape. Back of the large cent is spectacular. I am going to give the coins to earthworks as always for him to photography, and I will post in the next couple of days.
