Large Button. Need ID

I found this large button at an old homesite today. I was curious if anyone knew what it belonged to. I'm thinking something related to saddlebags, satchels or something similar. Odd design though

Are you sure it's a button? It looks as if it might be the lid from a rouge compact or maybe a pill box.

It very well could have been. I didn't think of that. I would be about the right size for a pill box.

Pill box or compact is my vote too. A little too large for a button, unless it was a one-piece "dandy" button. I have found two piece buttons that were as big as a quarter, but none that large.
