Today I met up with Johnnymc and latter Kenpa and Markgpa. We have been having a spectacular time hunting our newest spot together...Yes we are addicted. We have all done well here. Today was a great day for me,
I got my first 2 cent piece 1867. I also got an 1845 Large cent with great detail. and pulled 3 more Indians, 1865, 1879, 1896.

I got some great infantry and other buttons.

I am not much of a civil war buff so I don't know what some of the pieces are.
1. 2 guns with NH on it? (has a screw attachment on back)
2. the pointed piece, looks like it was attached to something. it is 3 inches long.
3. The copper disc punched DPC 296?

oh and I eyeballed a great looking blob top bottle.

Thanks for looking and a big thanks to Kenpa for steering us to all the goodies.. H.H. TnT

Great finds way to go

Eddy

great finds ,and nice spot.

TnT,

I would date the NH from WWI to WWII as that is not a familiar design for any CW insignia that I know of. Also, you can tell by the type of weapon that is shown in the insignia.

Let me know if you are interested in ridding of any of the I Eagle buttons. I am starting up a collection of different Civil War buttons and don't have any I Eagle buttons yet. Those are Union Infantry buttons. I need to find out for you what the different scripts represent though. Anyways, I will give fair price.

All in all, I would definitely not stop digging at that spot! You may come up with a beautiful breast plate or buckle! That would be my dream come true.

That has to be a dream hunt for sure. WTG

TnT,

Look at the link below. It would appear maybe two of the I Eagle buttons are cuff size? What are the dimensions of the I Eagle buttons? Also, two of the Eagle buttons are general issue, but the bottom button I am intrigued by. Will you take pictures of all sides of it. The outer edge of the button is not a norm. Also, do any of the buttons have any writing on the back? If so, what do they say?

Nice stuff! I think you guys are going to make the best of treasurenet with all your combined finds. Have you named the spot yet? Awesome to know there are spots like yours still out there. :)

Those 6 eagle buttons are fantastic! WOW! The bottom one is a "muffin" style button and is not unusual...

That whole bunch of stuff is awesome... great digging. Well done.

Thanks all for the great comments. Those curios about the buttons, when I get a chance I will look at some of the buttons backs and post them...TnT

Tnt...I'd only have to go out once a month if I had a site like that.....Congrat's on some nice find's,Button's are awesome....

Great finds. I love the large cent and 2-cent piece!

Good finds! Not sure where you are but at least one of the Eagle "I" buttons looks to be Indian War period.. and the collar device is late also. Was is an Army Camp by any chance? Possibly used for a longer period then the Civil War? It is hard to date the Staff buttons.. except by the backmark.. maybe a closeup??
