I scratched it ... errrr .. but anyway

Now for the big one ... (6.5 inches down) a Large Cent. Not sure on the date
but pretty sure it's between 1808 and 1814.
For a little bit i thought I was seeing a 3, then I thought
I was seeing a 4 ....
Here it is right out of the dirt - front and back

Here it is after the rinse - front

Nice coins ....I'm still waiting on the day I can pull one of those out the ground..HH and hope you find many more.

great finds ;D and that merc is still a beauty congrats ;)

Thats a nice large you got there. You did a pretty good job getting the dirt off it but still tough to see the date. Let it soak a while longer and see what you get. Date or no date that's a nice find. Congrats!

Love the LC's.

As much detail as that shows already, I think it'll be in pretty good shape after a little cleaning.

That's way up there on the wish list, Large Cent or Seated Anything.

The Merc is nice, too.

Great large cent val.
You have an electrolysis set up? That or a heated hydrogen peroxide bath may help get some detail out of it.
Shawn and I are planning on hunting again later this week. Hope you can come on a hunt with us sometime.
HH,
Donny

i'm gonna build her an electrolysis set up sometime this week, and i did tell her to try the heated peroxide method first to see how it worked.

It's strange how fate decides what detail to leave on those big coppa coins. They drive you a little crazy when you try to figure them out.

Maybe a light rubbing with a pencil and tracing paper will help with the date?

In any case. Congratulations on finding it and the Merc!

Good stuff!

I agree, dude! Most coppas from PA soil are difficult to decipher.

Kirk are your hair styles going back in time or forward, either way try a beatles cut or a bee-hive,your constantly changing avatars always crack me up.

Most Lg cents are hard to read ! Unless u find them with a White"s Machine right KirK?
