In preparing for an addition to our house, I've had an excavator on site the last two days. On a busy street like ours, that doesn't escape anyone's notice! Around lunch time, I saw one of my cousins approaching to check out the progress, and he shared a quick anecdote. Seeing Ron dressed professionally, one of my neighbors assumed that he owned the excavating company and asked if he would give them an estimate on a small job while the machinery was in the neighborhood. Ron told them no, only because he isn't affiliated with the excavators in any way. When I spotted the neighbor later, I walked over and found out what he wanted; I then told him I'd ask the excavator about it. Back on site at my house, I mentioned the need across the street; the excavator said that he'd be interested. After sharing that news with my neighbor, I asked for permission to detect the area in question before the dirt went away. I've always been hesitant to ask because my neighbor keeps his lawn very well
. Anyway, the neighbor, who is always very friendly said that would be fine. I did the area in question for a bit, then the excavator came over. A deal was struck, so my area was soon being swallowed by heavy equipment. With my foot in the door, I asked the neighbor if I could check out other parts of the yard; I was pleased with an affirmative answer!
. His yard is fronted by a public (and very busy) sidewalk, so I knew there would be some oldies and probably some silver. In a short time, digging only the best signals, I managed two silver Washingtons and a 1942 Walker. I can go back any time, and I intend to! My neighbor, who was willing to go a couple hundred on his excavating, got it for $75 (a deal he realized came thanks to me). Everybody won!
