Very slim pickings in the wet sand recently.
But I'm persistent and I finally scored a FIRST for me! A large GOLD Crucifix.
Yesterday during low tide I searched my favorite beach. Got this weak signal with my Surfmaster PI (sounded like a fish hook) but I was digging everything. I scooped it out from about 6" deep...and when the surf cleared away the sand I was dazzled by the glitter of GOLD. A beautiful sight! Gold is not marked unfortunately but it has the right look for me. It's not very thick and weighs in at 7.4 g. The 3rd photo is a detail with some of my small Gold Nuggets to illustrate how the gold surface tends to abrade and become matte...similar to the placer nuggets.
Rest of the finds were mainly sinkers and fishing items and a rusty can opener and enough clad for battery money.
Gotta LOVE this hobby, sure builds patience.
HH Joe
PS: That 1st photo makes the Gold seem unnaturally dull...I believe it's just the sun angle on the matte gold surface.
