Large Gold Haul from "Professional" appraiser

So, I saw an ad for a sale that looked good and said it had jewelry priced $5-$300. There were no pics of jewelry but the other stuff looked good. I was debating going because its on the other side of town. I decided to look at street view and realized this was the same place I bought 12 gold rings for a total of $60 last year.

Two of my jewelry competitors were also there. If not it would have been even more amazing. I saw the one buy a WWII sterling charm bracelet with like 50 charms for $50.

The one gold coin is a $5 Russion Ruble coin...paid $40. There is also a 1911 $2.5 Indian Head coin attached to a 14K FOB....paid $20. The gold and filigree pendants are all 18K gold with uncut rubies and sapphires.
The cameo is also 18K.



These pics are all 14K. The watch is Otton Grun. It weighs 12.3g without the mechanism and it works. The mechanism is marked Milus Watch. The crystal has a chip and the the band was repaired. Came with the original box. I paid $50.




The rest of this stuff is silver. The one cuff is signed Paloma Zuni. The large filigree bracelet is exceptionally nice. The only things that is not silver is the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition Charm Bracelet.


I paid $800 for everything including some vintage tools. This year has been slow, but this was an amazing sale. My favorite is the $2.5 Indian Head coin.

Wow - that is quite an "appraiser". $20 for the Indian Head is ridiculous, it didn't happen to have a D on the back did it...

My thoughts align with Jim...something is not adding up. Did this stuff fall off the end of a truck or something? Great buy on your part Silver.

You never know why sometimes, I went to an estate sale one Friday and all the Gold and Sterling jewelry was priced at 10% above spot price with the weight of the item on each tag, I went back on half price Sunday and all the jewelry was half price also, so I bought all of Gold and Silver that was there. I couldn’t believe it! Good luck!

@maine_Jim....I looked up the 1911 later in the night and saw that 1911D was really rare.....as crazy as these finds were, I was half expecting the D, but it was not there.

@JimDon & TwoYewts.....I am the one that weighed everything and added the tags. I've been doing that now as soon as I find something.

Still nothing about this sale made sense. The lady running it gave me her card. They have a website and it looks legit. It's a family business and she seems to be the daughter. On the card it says she is also an AJP, which I learned means Applied Jewelry Professional. Their site lists very fancy, estate type pieces some of which are 10s of thousands of dollars. She said she was helping out a friend. The only thing I can think that makes sense is that she wasn't impressed by the items and just wanted to move them. The friend she was helping was the one who sold me 12 gold rings for $60 a few months ago. They have a large building that is worth millions. They where having the sale to empty it.

Anyway....we have been emailing. I really hope she reaches out again.
