Large Ornate Button from Old Colonial Site

Found this about 20 feet from where I found my first King William III half penny. It measures 1 1/2 inch in diameter. Can anyone explain the unique pattern or perhaps its vintage? Thanks! GD :)

That's a nice button! Don't know about the pattern meaning though.

See above, the 18th century Dandy Man was the height of fashion and was a man of some wealth & standing. The large buttons were thought to attract the opposite sex. I know first hand that women love to look at my big buttons.
