So IYO do you feel the ones with that wavy flaking on the sides are actual tools used everyday or do you think they are preforms waiting to be finished? I find them with that wavy flaking at times but if they were actually used on a daily basis they will have the tiny secondary flaking on the edges. Ill take them all day long like the ones you posted if possible but I was trying to get your feelings on the piece. Im just not real sure they used them unless the tiny flaking was put on them.

The strikes to the piece came from the "flat" side facing up.... dropping flakes from the bottom. It looks like it was being thinned and prepared as a blank to me.
It also looks like the piece kept hinging instead of dropping large thinning flakes from the bottom.
IMHO it was likely given up on.
It may have seen use as it is but without a finished edge I only see reduction.

It looks to be something they tried to work but it did not wont to work for them. I agree with Gator, but it is still a cool find:hello2:

It's a good size spall that's for sure.the first photo shows several platforms set up for further work.
Check out the big concave part..that's the mirror image of one large cone of percussion that was created on the mother stone from a single impact.
You have to hit the material pretty hard to make one that size.
I can't see what polish your talking about.. just the slick surface of the side of the flake that was attached to the host stone.
