I was sidelined all week with an ear problem. I finally got to see the specialist today and he fixed me up. A good cleaning and a lot af good information. Just thought I would share a little information about headphones and the possible transmittal of bacteria. The doctor recommended that I pick up some alcohol wipes and to clean the headphone pads before and after each hunt. In case you're wondering,, I tell everyone what my favorite past time is.
Well, I loaded up the bike and headed to a new spot. BAM!!! I'm going to be looking over my shoulder every time I head back up there. Yep, it was that good.
I gave it 3 1/2 hours and I can't wait to get back there.
My finds for the day were: 5q, 10d, 2n, 22 memorials, 8 wheat pennies, (44(3), 45, 46d, 51, 52d (2), ) a 1955 Canadian Penny, 2 Silver Roosevelt Dimes, (46 & 52d), a 1945 Walking Liberty Half, and a Silver Mother Mary medal that has the date 1830 beneath the ground Mother Mary is standing on.
Man I had a great day and my ears don't bother me anymore,, lol

Nice hunt! Some of that silver looks really good. I have taken my Harley Metal detecting as well. If you are wearing a bucket helmet that wind can also mess with your ears. Good advice either way.

Very nice finds! That 1830 is a religious date and not the date the medal was made which is modern -- but still a great find

Thanks for the info Erik,, I never recovered a medal with a date on it, except one that was engraved on the back.

What "1830" represents is the date of the vision that inspired the medal: an apparition of the Virgin Mary to Sister (now Saint) Catherine Labouré, in the convent at Rue de Bac, Paris.
A later vision showed Mary standing with her hands outspread, exactly as you see on the medal, with glowing letters surrounding her saying "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."
Don......

Very nice finds. Lots of those religious medals showing up. Are the Catholics throwing away their silver?

Nice recoveries on the silver, and info on the ears.

Congratulations on the very productive hunt!

I'll bet your ears bothered you when that Walker sounded off ! Great find.

Cool finds, congrats on the big silver. You didn't even mention the robot that looks like the one from "The Jetsons", "Rosie the Robot"

Great looking group of finds there. Congratulations

Fantastic hunt. I'd be looking over my shoulder too.

That metal plate looks like it came from an old clock. I dug a few parts that look just like it recently.

the silver is beautiful Congrats.

Glad you had the problem figured out. Might be tough detecting, when one can't hear. ;)

Nice saves!

Mmmmmm, diminishing congregations, fewer servants decreased income and selling of real estate... Add to those... Lawsuit payouts, don't think so.
But I love the thought!:laughing7:

Super great assortment there. The Walker is AU.and you must have been on roller shoes to dig that much in 3 and a half hours.
